The center apartments are situated 3 and 5 blocks south of Downtown Santiago and Santa Lucia and 3 blocks from Providencia. Carmen Boulevard 1 and 2 are in the same building 1 floor apart and Carmen is 100m away, For bigger groups is all very close and all apartments have local telephone so you can keep in contact. Around the apartments within 2 blocks are different take aways, restaurants of which the main one is Adobes de Argomedes with dance show and traditional food, supermarkets, mini markets, bakery and coffee shops. All close for you convinience. There are pin machines 2 blocks away. In Santiago Santiago has a very nice climate, like California or Spain, sp outdoor living is very normal here. Everywhere you are you will see the mountains like a wall beside you.. The Alameda Libertador Bernardo O' Higgens which is a broad avenue which enters the city center from the west and goes to the east into Providencia. From there you can visit La Moneda where the government resides, Plaza de la Constitucion Plaza Bernardo O' Higgins and Santa Lucia. The apartments are situated close to Santa Lucia Hill where Pedro Valdivia first started Santiago which is a baroque maze of pathways, gardens fountains and squares. Parque Forestal is situated along the river Mapocho where you can walk and relax, and then have some nice fish or shellfish for lunch in the Mercado Central. On the other side of the Mapocho river you will find the Vega Central where all the fruit and vegetables are taken in from the farmers you can buy there yourself as well, Patronato for cheap clothes and Barrio Bella Vista where you can buy jewelery only made in Chile. A bit further on the red metro line is Estation central which is made by Eifel and if you go the other way to Los Dominicos you will find a hacienda type tourist place with beautiful little shops. Bit to the south you will find vine yards of which Cousino Macul is the oldest, all easely reached by metro. In the apartment is a booklet with a map and more information about museums, shopping, restaurants and other things you can do like going on top of Cerro San Cristobal with its incredible view over the city. The apartment is a very good place to do excursions around Santiago. The Maipo valley is very close to Santiago and there are lot of opportunities to swim, ride horses, picnic, hike, camp or cabin overnight and wild water rafting. There is also a variety of Chilean restaurants with traditional Chilean foods as empanadas and humitas. Around 25 km into the valley is the town of San Jose de Maipo, here starts the road up in the Andes where you can ski. Another beautiful excursions is towards Los Andes and go right to Mendoza in Argentina, 5 hours driving will bring you there. The crossing of the Andes is Magic. More south is Pomaire where you can see hand made pottery and other handy crafts and eat a traditional Chilean lunch. Just before this is Malloco a German enclave and further down the road is San Antonio with its fish market.. Down to the pacific are Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar with their beautiful beaches, perfect for a nice day out.
